StepApp Privacy Policy

This policy explains which information StepApp processes, why it is used, and how you can control or delete it.

Information StepApp processes

Account information. StepApp uses Firebase Authentication. An account can be anonymous or linked to Google or Apple. Depending on the sign-in method, StepApp may receive a Firebase user ID and an email address, including an Apple private relay address when Hide My Email is used.

Profile and social information. This includes your StepApp username, friends, friend requests, blocks, reports, race invitations, race results, leaderboard participation and leaderboard position.

Step and fitness information. With your permission, StepApp reads step counts from Apple Health on iOS, Health Connect on Android, and the device motion or step sensor. Step counts are used for daily totals, XP, park progress, races and leaderboards.

Game progress. This includes coins, XP, themes, park items, park layout and related synchronization data.

Security and technical information. StepApp may process a locally generated device identifier, account-session information, App Check signals and limited diagnostic or request information needed to protect accounts and prevent abuse.

Support information. When you voluntarily submit feedback or a problem report, StepApp processes the content you provide and an optional contact email address.

How the information is used

Information is used to provide and synchronize StepApp, restore accounts, calculate progress, operate races and leaderboards, support social features, prevent fraud and abuse, respond to support requests, and comply with legal obligations.

Step and health information is not used for advertising, ad personalization or marketing and is not shared with advertising networks.

Advertising

StepApp uses Google Mobile Ads and Google’s consent tools. Depending on your region and choices, Google may process identifiers, approximate location, app interactions and diagnostic information to provide, measure or limit ads. StepApp does not send Apple Health, Health Connect or step-count data to Google Mobile Ads.

Service providers

StepApp uses Google Firebase services, including Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions and App Check, for account, storage, synchronization and security functions. Google Mobile Ads is used to display ads. Apple provides Sign in with Apple, Apple Health and Motion & Fitness functionality on iOS.

Service providers that process personal information for StepApp are required to protect that information in accordance with their applicable agreements, privacy obligations and protections that are equivalent to those described in this policy.

Storage and retention

Local information is stored on your device. Synchronized account, progress and social information is retained while your StepApp account exists. Support submissions and security records may be retained for the time reasonably needed to handle the request, protect the service or meet legal obligations. Data may remain briefly in secured backups before normal backup rotation removes it.

Your choices

You can control step tracking, background race updates and ad privacy choices from StepApp’s settings. Apple Health and Motion & Fitness permissions can also be changed in iOS Settings. Google or Apple account permissions can be managed through the relevant provider.

You can delete your StepApp account inside the app through Settings → Delete account. The deletion process removes the account and associated StepApp data, subject to limited legal, security and backup retention described above.
